The Passages groundwork comes from the founders, Chris and Pax Prentiss, who are two free-thinking, remarkable men that go against the grain the of traditional 12 Step treatment philosophy. They refuse to follow the outdated 12 Step model of treatment and choose to set the bar much higher.

The philosophy at Passages was formed after Chris Prentiss helped his son, Pax, overcome his addiction to heroin, cocaine and alcohol.  Instead of just treating the symptoms like most other treatment centers do, Chris helped Pax to heal the underlying conditions that were causing him to use. This was done through one-on-one therapy, by therapists who did not believe in the disease concept of addiction. The program worked so well for Pax, that the father and son team decided to open Passages Malibu and offer this approach to the world at large.
