Physical Fitness Training

Years of dependency on drugs and alcohol severely diminish your mental and emotional well-being, and your addiction has likely taken an extreme toll on your overall physical fitness as well. At Passages Malibu, we believe that physical fitness and exercise is one of the keys to maintaining a healthy, balanced, and sober existence. To reverse the trends you have likely developed as part of an unhealthy lifestyle, we provide you with one-on-one sessions with our Certified Fitness Instructors in our own fully equipped fitness center.


There are many reasons why our physical fitness program at Passages is one of the crucial components of our clients’ recovery. Regular exercise causes the release of endorphins-small, protein packed molecules that are produced by cells in your nervous system.  Endorphins have been shown to have a “feel good” effect on the brain and body, to control pain, reduce depression and anxiety, relieve stress, and to decrease cravings for addictive substances. As you progress through your sessions with our personal trainers, you’ll not only notice a difference in your physical appearance, but you will also begin to feel strong again and your self-esteem will increase.


Our gym has something for everyone, whether you prefer to bike, lift free-weighs, or use an elliptical machine, and our fitness instructors are experienced with working with people of all levels of physical capabilities. Our trainers also offer physical rehabilitation in lieu of physical fitness sessions for any clients in wheelchairs or with physical disabilities.  To keep your fitness routine interesting and challenging, we also offer regular group yoga classes, individual and group tennis lessons with our on-site tennis professional, and Kayaking activities.
