THE FACTS OF XANAX ADDICTION WhileXanax (alprazolam) is a prescription drug used to treat severe anxiety. Xanax induces feelings of calm, drowsiness and relaxation in users, making it a popular prescription choice for panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression-induced anxiety conditions. Like other benzodiazepines such as Valium, Ativan, and Klonopin, Xanax slows down signals sent from the nerve cells to provide temporarily relief from panic and anxiety. However, these feelings of calmness that set in also make Xanax frequently abused--both by those who are legitimately prescribed the drug and those who acquire it illegally. At Passages, we believe that Xanax addiction can be effectively treated when the underlying causes of addiction have been resolved. In our experience, there are four major reasons why addictions occur: 1. Chemical imbalances within the brain. Xanax addiction is merely a symptom of an underlying condition that needs treatment and resolution. At Passages, we do not believe in addiction as an incurable "disease" that resigns dependent individuals to a lifetime struggle against relapse. We point to those who have both never encountered a personal drug or alcohol addiction despite family members who have been chemically dependent--as well as those who, despite numerous relatives with addictions, never become drug or alcohol dependent themselves. At Passages, years of clinical experience has taught us that relapse does not have to be part of recovery--but merely indicates that prior treatment was unsuccessful. Once the root causes of Xanax addiction have been resolved, the drive to use will resolve, opening the doors to a permanently sober future. When Xanax use ceases abruptly, users generally encounter an array of withdrawal symptoms, making it difficult to discontinue alone. Some users encounter further panic, heightened anxiety, insomnia, lightheadedness, aggression, rage, and even hallucinations. Other psychological effects of withdrawal can include irritability, lethargy, apathy, paranoia and even severe breaks with reality and delirium. In some cases, depression worsens and can even lead to suicidal thoughts. Physical symptoms of Xanax withdrawal can onset as well, including watery eyes, congestion, hyperventilation, headaches, muscle spasms, bone pains, profuse sweating, lowered appetite, nausea and vomiting. Some physical Xanax withdrawal symptoms can be extremely dangerous, including heart palpitations, severe diarrhea, intestinal cramping, seizures--and even death. Xanax also causes rapid tolerance to develop, requiring higher doses in greater frequencies over time for its effects to be felt. This often means that in cases where Xanax has been taken for long periods of time, professional detox with medical supervision is absolutely necessary. Medical supervision and conservatively prescribed medication can combine with natural detox methods and counseling to ensure a safe, comfortable and stress-free Xanax detoxification experience. Ongoing physical and psychological care is necessary, even after the detox process has been completed, to ensure the body's ability to repair the damage that Xanax addiction has caused. Once successful Xanax detox has been achieved, personalized therapy holds the keys for curing Xanax addiction. Because Xanax is often used to alleviate psychological or physical pain, freedom from addiction truly occurs when these underlying causes are successfully treated. At Passages, while we offer group support, we emphasize highly customized and individualized treatment that reaches the heart of addiction and actively seeks out a cure. We offer each client over 60 sessions of personalized, private therapy each month with the top physical and mental health experts in world to collaborate for a cure that endures--one specifically tailored to your personal history, mind and body. Genetics is not listed as an underlying cause because there are millions of people in the United States, and many millions more all over the world, whose parents, grandparents, and/or relatives were alcoholics or addicts and they are not. Some do use in social settings, while others do not use at all, but these people remain dependence-free despite their family histories. Neither is dependency a cause of its popular status as a disease. Neither alcoholism, nor addiction are diseases; they are names that we have given the states in which we find ourselves when we have used addictive substances in order to cope with one or more of the four causes, to the point that we have become dependent on them.Repairing the damage of a Xanax addiction requires professional treatment. In order to properly cure you or your loved one’s Xanax dependency, a comprehensive Xanax rehab treatment program must first uncover the underlying problems that have driven you to drugs and are maintaining your need for drugs. Once these underlying problems have been discovered, they can be healed, and full rehabilitation from Xanax addiction can occur. In order to do this, though, it is important that you have a team of therapists working with you one-on-one.

YOUR DEPENDENCY IS NOT A DISEASE
Passages Addiction Cure Center has become the single most successful drug and alcohol rehab center worldwide. While we've carefully planned each detail at Passages to facilitate recovery, the foremost reason for our high success rate is the one-on-one addiction recovery approach of our drug treatment philosophy.
While most addiction treatment centers embrace the traditional 12-step methodology, this model largely involves sharing and listening that does little to provide targeted treatment. Even at the close of treatment, many earnest individuals still have not fully explored their personal reasons for addiction. In fact, sometimes the sole change that takes place during group-intensive programs is the identification as an incurably diseased "addict" or "alcoholic"--a disempowering notion that often brings more damage to already low-self esteem.
At Passages, we know that you're more than just a number--and more than just an addiction. We believe in treating the entire person--body, mind and spirit. Because we specialize in Xanax addiction, we seek out any physical ailments, body chemistry issues, psychological trauma or emotional pain that may be contributing to your dependency. We've gathered the finest minds in addiction science to collaborate on your specific case--and relentlessly seek out a cure that works for your learning style, personal history, body and personality.
We invite you to read about the causes and dynamics of addiction in greater depth in the pages of Chris Prentiss’s book, The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure. As Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Passages Addiction Cure Center, Chris debunks popular myths about addiction and provides a roadmap for a cure--the same approach that has made Passages the most successful addiction treatment center in the world.
ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL PROGRAMS DON'T WORK
Even at the best mainstream drug rehab centers, group therapy has become the norm, with only a single personalized treatment session each week. This amounts to only 4 personalized sessions during an entire month-long treatment stay--and it's simply not enough to cure dependency in a lasting way. At Passages Addiction Cure Center, we've revolutionalized the drug treatment process--offering each of our clients more than 60 individual sessions each month, partnering one-on-one with the finest minds in the addiction industry hailing from a host of disciplines.
At Passages, we believe that this personalized care is necessary to find each individual's specific root causes of addiction. Behind each addiction lies physical or emotional pain that simply needs treatment for relapse-free recovery. Our strong belief, backed by years of successful clinical experience, is that each client's reasons for addiction need to be cured, in order to facilitate a full recovery from drug addiction.
From the outset of treatment, we pair each client with a team of therapists that collaborate to custom-tailor a treatment plan, specifically for your mind, body, personal history and personality. We continue this thread of personalized care throughout your stay at Passages Addiction Cure Center.
